09, 10, & 11 June 2026 | 13:00 – 16:00

GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY?

About this course

The fundamentals of discipline are inextricably linked to the principles of dismissals. By acquiring an understanding of dismissals, you gain invaluable insight into discipline.

The cornerstone of the labour dispensation is the Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995 (the LRA). This Act governs the relationship between the employer and the employee.

The underlying principle of the LRA is fairness. This fairness extends to both the reason for the dismissal and the procedure that must be followed before effecting the dismissal.

You should therefore be guided at all times by the principle of fairness in any issue of discipline.

Course content

  • To initiate participants into the basic principles of labour law
  • To inculcate a practical approach to disciplinary issues
  • How to deal with suspension
  • The issuance of warnings
  • Formulating disciplinary charges
  • The conduct of disciplinary hearings
