Please refer below for more details on Terms and Conditions specific to the relevant LEAD learning activity (Candidate Attorneys courses, Practice Managment Courses, School for Legal Practices, Seminar, workshop, course etc.) Note they have different T&C.
Payment Methods:
The terms and conditions of the Law Society of South Africa (LEAD) are such that our policy only allows for each person to be registered for a course/seminar/webinar as an individual. Each person attending any training offered by the Law Society of South Africa (LEAD) must register as an individual. This is a standard protocol for all training offered by the Law Society of South Africa (LEAD).
Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) Bank Account
All fees must be paid to the designated LSSA bank account only. The Law Society of South Africa will not accept liability if fees are paid into any other bank account.

Definition: For the purposes of this section, a “participant” is someone who has completed a registration form for a LEAD course/event.
- Payment of fee
The fee must be paid in full by the participant before the course commences.
- Refund of fee
2.1 A participant will qualify for a refund only if he/she cancels attendance of the course in writing, at least 15 business days before commencement of the course, subject to deduction of a cancellation fee of 10% of the full course fee.
2.2 If a participant cancels less than 15 business days prior to the course, he/she will be liable for payment in full unless the reason for cancellation is on one of the following grounds:
i. Death of a close family member (death certificate should be submitted).
ii. Severe medical condition which results in the participant no longer being able to continue with the Course (medical certificate should be submitted).
2.3 If a participant cancels on the grounds mentioned in par 2.2 (i and ii) above, he/she will still be held liable for the cost of all material received.
2.4 All refunds must be claimed in writing not more than 15 business days after cancellation.
2.5 Failure to claim a refund within 15 business days from cancellation will result in forfeiture of the refund.
2.6 Approved refunds will be paid within 30 business days.
- Rescheduling of the course
3.1 Rescheduling of the course will be allowed on a one-time basis only.
3.2 Written application to re-schedule must be made at least 20 business days prior to commencement of the course.
3.3 Should a participant wish to re-schedule, the course must be attended within 12 months of the original course.
3.4 Failure to attend the re-scheduled course within 12 months of the original course will result in forfeiture of the full course fee.
- Duplicate certificates
4.1 Should you lose your certificate and request a replacement, the cost is R250 (VAT Inclusive) for a duplicate certificate.

2.1 A participant will qualify for a refund only if he/she cancels attendance of the School in writing before commencement of the School and before receiving material, subject to deduction of a cancellation fee of R500.
2.2 If a participant cancels after commencement of the School (and/or receipt of material), but within two months from commencement, a fee of R2000 plus the cost of all material received will be charged unless the reason for cancellation is on one of the following grounds:
- Death of a close family member (death certificate should be submitted).
- Severe medical condition which results in the participant no longer being able to continue with the School (medical certificate should be submitted).
2.3 If a participant cancels on the grounds mentioned in par 2.2 (i and ii) above, he/she will still be held liable for the cost of all material received.
2.4 If a participant cancels two or more months after commencement of the School, the full fee will be payable.
2.5 All refunds must be claimed in writing not more than 30 business days after cancellation.
2.6 Failure to claim a refund within 30 business days from cancellation will result in forfeiture of the refund.

LSSA—UNISA Distance School
- Payment of fee
- The fee must be paid in full by the participant before the course commences.
- Refund of fee
- A participant will qualify for a refund only if he/she cancels attendance of the course in writing, at least 30 business days before commencement of the course, subject to deduction of a cancellation fee of 10% of the full course fee.
- If a participant cancels less than 30 business days prior to the course, he/she will be liable for payment in full unless the reason for cancellation is on one of the following grounds:
- Death of a close family member (death certificate should be submitted).
- Severe medical condition which results in the participant no longer being able to continue with the Course (medical certificate should be submitted).
- Full or Partial Exemption granted by the Legal Practice Council:
- If full exemption has been granted prior to issuing of material and commencing of classes –
- a full refund will be processed.
- If partial or full exemption is granted after material is issued to the participant and classes have commenced, an admin fee will be charge.
- If a participant cancels on the grounds mentioned in paragraph 2.2 above, he/she will still be held liable for the cost of all material received.
- All refunds must be claimed in writing not more than 15 business days after cancellation.
- Failure to claim a refund within 15 business days from cancellation will result in forfeiture of the refund.
- Approved refunds will be paid within 30 business days
- Re-scheduling of the course
3.1 Re-scheduling of the course will be allowed only on a one-time basis.
3.2 Should a participant wish to re-schedule, the course must be attended within 12 months of the original course.
3.3 Failure to attend the re-scheduled course within 12 months of the original course will result in forfeiture of the full course fee.
3.4 Delegates will be liable for the difference of the registration fee in the event that they request to move their program to the next semester.
- Successful completion of the PMT
- Participants must have an active e-mail address. To complete the course, participants are required to have a satisfactory attendance record of the training (8 modules) as well as having passed the three assignments and 5 online assessments (tests and quizzes.)
- Ideally, the participant should complete the training at the end of the first six months after registering. Participants are, however, required to complete the Practice Management Training in full within 12 months from the date of registering.
- If the training has not been completed within 12 months from the date of first registration, the participant will have to re-register and repeat the entire training (8 modules and 3 assignments and 5 online assessments).
- The full cost of the training will have to be paid again.

- Deposit
A deposit, as specified in the applicable registration form must be paid on registration. - Refund of fee
- A participant who has registered for a postgraduate programme will qualify for a refund only if he/she cancels attendance in writing 20 business days before commencement of the course and before receiving material, subject to deduction of a cancellation fee of R500.
- If a participant cancels after commencement of the course (and/or receipt of material), but within two months from commencement, a fee of R2 000 plus the cost of all material received will be charged unless the reason for cancellation is on one of the following grounds:

SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS
- Limited seats are available at all centres and registrations will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.
- A participant who has registered for a seminar/workshop will qualify for a refund only if he/she cancels attendance in writing at least 48 hours prior to the date of the seminar/workshop.
- If a participant cancels less than 48 hours prior to the seminar/workshop, he/she will be held liable for the full fee.
- Flight and accommodation bookings: Delegates should wait for confirmation from LEAD that the seminar will be going ahead before they make their flight and accommodation bookings.
- All refunds must be claimed in writing not more than 15 business days after cancellation.
- Failure to claim a refund within 15 business days from cancellation will result in forfeiture of the refund.
- The material for some of the seminar topics is for sale after the seminar has been completed in the centre where the buyer would have registered.
- LEAD reserves the right to postpone or cancel any training should the number of delegates not justify the costs involved. Registered participants will be given reasonable notice of cancellation.

- The e-courses are conducted online and all communication (including submission of assignments and course content queries) is done via the e-learning platform (e-LEADer).
- The e-courses are conducted in English and all assignments are submitted in English.
- A delegate who wishes to cancel must do so at least 7 (seven) working days prior to the commencement of the training. You may send a replacement in your place. A completed registration form of the substitute must be forward to LSSA. A 10% administration fee will be charged on all cancellations within the 7 day period.
- Confirmation -emails will be sent to participants within 5 days after the registration closing date. Please note that it is the participant’s responsibility to follow-up with Grace Mukuru at Grace@LSSALEAD.org.za if no confirmation e-mail has been received on the day the course commence.
- No refund will be made after commencement of course.
- Cancellations must be done in writing and e-mailed to course co-ordinator.
- You may transfer once at no additional cost to another training with the proviso that it is in the 7 (seven) day period as stipulated above.
- Confirmation of the cancellation will be confirmed via e-mail. Should a delegate not receive a cancellation confirmation from LEAD, it means that the cancellation request was not received. Delegates should follow up ASAP or it will result in full liability of the training amount.
- Regrettably, no refunds or transfers can be given to delegates who do not attend the training without giving prior notice at least 7 (seven) working days prior to the training.
- LSSA/LEAD shall have the right in its sole discretion to postpone or cancel training in any programme initially advertised and offered based on insufficient demand. Should LSSA/LEAD cancel the proposed training, registered delegates will be given reasonable notice of the cancellation and all fees paid by the delegate will be refunded.
- The course material is not for sale to non-participants.
- LEAD reserves the right to postpone or cancel any training should the number of delegates not justify the costs involved. Registered participants will be given reasonable notice of cancellation.

- Participants must complete the online registration per individual, using the participant’s own email address.
- Material and links to the online training will be emailed to participants 24 hours before the commencement of the training. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that he/she receives the link. If not received, LEAD must be notified
- A participant who has registered for online training/webinar will qualify for a refund only if he/she cancels attendance in writing via email before the links and material have been emailed.
- Confirmation of the cancellation will be confirmed via e-mail. Should a participant not receive a cancellation confirmation from LEAD, it means that the cancellation request was not received. Participants should follow up ASAP or he/she will be held liable for the full training amount.
- If a participant cancels after the links and material have been shared, he/she will be held liable for the full fee.
- Participants who do not cancel or fail to attend the training will be held responsible for the full training amount. The only exceptions are if the reasons for cancellation are one of the following:
- Death of a close family member (death certificate should be submitted);
- Severe medical condition which results in the participant no longer being able to continue with the training (medical certificate should be submitted);
- Regrettably, no refunds or transfers can be given to delegates who do not attend the training without giving prior notice at least 7 (seven) working days prior to the training.
- LSSA/LEAD shall have the right in its sole discretion to postpone or cancel training in any programme initially advertised and offered based on insufficient demand. Should LSSA/LEAD cancel the proposed training, registered delegates will be given reasonable notice of the cancellation and all fees paid by the delegate will be refunded.
