About this course 
 
This course provides general business skills and practical approaches to all aspects of the legal secretary's portfolio. It imparts the broad knowledge and skills needed in the legal industry, and will deliver knowledgeable, skilled, administrative secretaries who are able to contribute to the improved productivity and efficiency of their law firms.
 
Course content
The course is divided into four parts:
- Part 1: The legal system
- Part 2: The legal profession
- Part 3: The legal secretary's duties
- Part 4: Business fundamentals
 
Presenter
Alta van der Walt obtained her BA Business Management degree at Griffiths University and has been working as a practice manager for over 25 years. She has a passion for good business practices and has been lecturing Practice, Business and Management topics for the Law Society of South Africa’s Legal Education and Development (LEAD) Division for the past 13 years.

Certification
Attendance of all sessions is mandatory to qualify for a certificate.

Secretaries, office administrators, receptionists and individuals who want to pursue a career as a legal secretary.

Registration fee categories (including VAT):
 
Practising legal practitioners and other staff from firms:  R3 500 per person.
Non-practising legal practitioners/others:  R4 800 per person.

How to register

Kindly note that registrations are done online. For certification purposes, participants should register individually, using their own email address. This will enable the system to generate a unique username and password for each person.

STEP 1: 

Payment should be made by electronic funds transfer (EFT) only. You are required to upload the proof of payment (PDF) in step 2 - (Online registration form). Should an invoice be required to effect payment, replace the proof of payment document with a note (Word) requesting an invoice.
