An intensive, workshop to sharpen your skills in the field of insolvency litigation and administration
About this Course

This workshop has been presented annually since 2005 under the guidance of one of a renowned insolvency expert, Prof. André Boraine (Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria). It covers the most vital aspects such as liquidation and sequestration applications, aspects of the effects of sequestration and liquidation, the administration of an insolvent estate, including the rules pertaining to the distribution of proceeds, and aspects of business rescue

The programme will include:

Day 1
Taking instructions| Introduction to insolvency law| Alternatives to sequestration | Voluntary surrender | Compulsory sequestration | Rehabilitation | Effects of insolvency | Assets | Impeachable transactions | Unexecuted contracts.

Day 2
Liquidation of companies | Aspects of Business rescue | Compromises | Overview of the administration process.

Day 3
Application of the proceeds of the assets (drafting of estate accounts and related matters).

Presenters

The presenters draw from their experience as academics and expert insolvency practitioners. The team consists of Prof. Boraine (Faculty of Law – University of Pretoria), Mr Khashane Manamela and Mr. Matthew Klein.

Who should register?

All legal practitioners who wish to enhance their knowledge of insolvency law. The course is ideal to inform legal practitioners, candidate legal practitioners and legal advisers as to the basics of insolvency law and practice.

Once you have successfully registered to participate, you will receive confirmation that we have received your registration documentation. Confirmation of attendance will be on a first-come, first-served basis.  You will receive a system-generated e-mail with a Microsoft Teams link to the workshop at least 24 hours before the workshop starts. Read the instructions in the e-mail carefully and test your link to the workshop page at least 20 min before it starts.Although registration closes one week prior to the commencement of the course, this course is usually fully booked by the registration deadline. Therefore, early registration is recommended.
