Background to this presentation

In June 2023, the National Treasury and SARS jointly issued a proposed Bill to amend the Pension Funds Act and the Income Tax Act. These amendments aim to reform the retirement funds system permitting members to access a portion of their retirement savings while still employed, while also restricting members from withdrawing their entire retirement savings as a lump sum in cash upon resignation, retrenchment, or dismissal. The implementation of this new Two Pot retirement system is scheduled for September 1, 2024.
