Divorce Act Update (Webinar)
30 January 2024 | 10:00 – 13:00
THE MATRIMONIAL LAW IN SOUTH AFRICA HAS BEEN RUFFLED AND YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT!

About this webinar

This webinar will inter alia  address the new Constitutional Court judgment declaring the following:

Paragraph (a) of subsection 7(3) of the Divorce Act 70 of 1979 (Divorce Act) is inconsistent with the Constitution and invalid to the extent that it fails to include marriages concluded on or after the commencement of the Matrimonial Property Act 88 of 1984 (Matrimonial Property Act).

Subsection 7(3) of the Divorce Act 70 of 1979 is declared inconsistent with the Constitution and invalid to the extent that it fails to include the dissolution of marriage by death.

Topics to be covered, highly relevant to legal practitioners in various overlapping fields, will include:
•    The impact of the judgment on the future of divorce litigation will be discussed and how to stay one step ahead of your opponent.
•    How will we now henceforth interpret ante nuptial contracts?
•    How should we advise parties intending to marry or entering any form of life partnership?
•    What will be the impact of these changes on the administration of deceased estates?
“Don’t be that lawyer who learns by trial and error, the client’s trial and your own error…”
INVEST IN YOURSELF, KEEP YOURSELF IN THE KNOW!
