About this online course and what the programme includes

The purpose of this online course is to educate all interested parties in the skill of administrating deceased estates as well as what precisely is meant with deceased estates. The online course aims to process the attendee’s thought-process in developing an administrative and procedurally correct journey, by achieving the ability to understand and to effectively be able to administer a deceased estate.

This online course is designed to educate on a effective level and to assist the attendee to utilise the skills acquired in practice.

Online course content

•   Know which parties are involved in the administration process, as well as the parties’ function
•   Know the steps while waiting upon letters of executorship to be issued
•   Know the steps after receiving letters of executorship, but before lodgement
•   Draft letters to possible creditors of the deceased
•   Draft letters to valuators of the movable and/or immovable property
•   Assist with drafting a very basic liquidation and distribution account
•   Understand what a section 18(3) estate is

Presenter
Kyle Kietzmann has been a practising attorney since 2014. He opened his practise in 2016 in Pretoria and opened a branch in Johannesburg in April 2022. His law firm specialises in civil matters, labour matters, criminal matters, debt collecting, deceased estates, contractual law, commercial law, family law, maintenance, protection orders, etcetera.

As a lecture for the Law Society of South Africa, Legal Education and Development (LEAD), he has lectured since 2016 in the following subjects: magistrates court practice, labour law, wills and estates, criminal law, debt collecting, casework, business writing, ethics, legal costs, etcetera

•    Non-practising legal practitioners/others: R4 120 per person.

Kindly note that you can only register online and that there are limited places available. Participants should be registered individually to enable the system to generate a unique username and password for each person.

Please take note

  • Course registration will be confirmed only if proof of payment is attached to the form.
  • Fees must be paid into the designated Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) bank account. The LSSA will not accept liability if any other bank account is used.
  • LEAD reserves the right to postpone or cancel a learning activity should the number of delegates not justify the costs involved. Registered delegates will be given reasonable notice of cancellation and all fees paid by the delegates will be refunded.
  • An applicant/employer who wishes to cancel must do so at least 7 working days prior to commencement of the course. Cancellations must be done in writing and e-mailed to annelie@LSSALEAD.org.za and yolanda@LSSALEAD.org.za. Confirmation of the cancellation will be confirmed via e-mail. Should an applicant/employer not receive a cancellation confirmation from LEAD, it means that the cancellation request was not received and that he/she/the firm will still be held liable for the full course fee. Applicants who do not cancel and fail to attend the training will be held responsible for the full course amount.
