Presenter
Gert Nel  (BProc.LLB) has more than 25 years’ experience in personal injury law. Mr Nel was a council member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces and Law Society of South Africa during which time he had to consider the conduct of fellow practitioners who had overstepped the boundaries of what would be regarded as a justifiable fee.

Mr Nel identified the need to have a safe median practitioners working on a contingency fees basis could apply and continued write the Award Winning Article: ‘Decoding Section 2(1)(a) and (b) of the Contingency Fees Act, to offer more insight and knowledge when it came to the correct approach in calculating fees to an alternative to the simple and clearly risky 25% approach.’
