COMMERCIAL LEGAL DRAFTING SKILLS
ONLINE WORKSHOP
| 2025
An online commercial legal drafting skills workshop series for legal practitioners

About this workshop sieries

The Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) in partnership with Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI), Matheson and Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr present an intensive Commercial LegalDrafting Skills series of Workshops, one half of a day a week over five consecutive weeks.

Commercial legal expertise is an important element necessary for a country’s enhanced good governance and economic development. Commercial law has particular significance in rural or marginalised areas where legal practitioners can use their knowledge to encourage greater contribution to the market economy and provide valuable legal assistance to local businesses.

The LSSA has long recognised that there are very few opportunities for legal practitioners from disadvantaged backgrounds to upskill and gain grounding in commercial law. It has, therefore, teamed up with IRLI to offer an online commercial drafting skills workshop to legal practitioners.

Aim of the workshop series

The workshop series aims to address the economic imbalance in the practice of commercial law in South Africa through skill transfer. Skill transfer in this instance refers to the transfer of knowledge of legal principles involved in commercial and company law, and specifically the necessary techniques (such as drafting) which are part of a commercial lawyer’s skill set.
