About this Course
The course will equip delegates with a better understanding of legal costs in order to run a more efficient practice to serve in the best interests of their clients. You will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare proper cost accounts that will ensure that your clients and your business do not suffer financial losses.
You will also learn how to negotiate and obtain beneficial costs orders. This course provides a better understanding between civil litigious and non-litigious matters and the consequences thereof. The concept of legal costs and a general understanding will form the basis, followed by practical training.
There will be a section covering a thorough analysis of Section 35 of the Legal Practice Act 28 of 2014 and the implications of the innovations in regard to attorneys / client relationships in respect of legal costs.

Presenter
Cornelius Meiring was admitted as a legal practitioner of the High Court in February 1997. He was also admitted as a conveyancer in 2002 and has been in full-time practice as an attorney and conveyancer for the past 26 years.
Cornelius became involved with LEAD in 2006 and has been presenting various topics for the past 18 years. The subjects / topics he presents include Legal Practice Accounts Management, Wills, Estates, Trusts and Legal Costs, among others.
He is also a guest lecturer at the North West University, where he presents Accounting for Legal Practitioners. Cornelius is also part of the LPC’s Disciplinary Committee and Fee Dispute Resolution Committee.

How to Register
Kindly note that registrations are done online. For certification purposes, participants should register individually, using their own email address. This will enable the system to generate a unique username and password for each person.
