Background to this presentation

The Department of Home Affairs has proposed a new unified marriage law to replace the fragmented system currently in place. This initiative responds to constitutional mandates for equality and inclusivity and seeks to harmonize civil, customary, and religious marriage practices under a single legislative framework. This session aims to educate and prepare stakeholders ahead of its anticipated enactment.
