Each LEAD learning activity (seminar, workshop, course etc.) has different terms and conditions. Please refer below for more details on the terms and conditions specific to each learning activity.
LEGAL PRACTICE BILL
Transitional provisions relating to qualifications in the Legal Practice Bill, 2012, state that the training course presented at a Practical Legal Training School of the Law Society of South Africa; or any other training course approved by any existing society before the date referred to in s 119(4) for the purpose of training persons to qualify as legal practitioners, must be regarded as having been presented or approved pursuant to the regulations pertaining to practical vocational training.
COMPULSORY COURSE FOR CANDIDATE ATTORNEYS

Full fee must be paid before the course commences. |

Refund of fee |
| 2.1 |
A candidate will qualify for a refund only if he/she cancels attendance of the course in writing, at least 15 business days before commencement of the course, subject to deduction of a cancellation fee of 10% of the full course fee. |
| 2.2 |
If a candidate cancels less than 15 business days prior to the course, he/she will be liable for payment in full unless the reason for cancellation is on one of the following grounds:
i. Death of a close family member (death certificate should be submitted).
ii. Severe medical condition which results in the participant no longer being able to continue with
the Course (medical certificate should be submitted). |

If a candidate cancels on the grounds mentioned in par 2.2 (i and ii) above, he/she will still be held liable for the cost of all material received. |
| 2.4 |
All refunds must be claimed in writing not more than 15 business days after cancellation. |
| 2.5 |
Failure to claim a refund within 15 business days from cancellation will result in forfeiture of the refund. |

Rescheduling of the course |
| 3.2 |
Rescheduling of the course will be allowed only on a one-time basis. |

Written application to reschedule must be made at least 20 business days prior to commencement of the course. |
| 3.3 |
Should a candidate wish to reschedule, the course must be attended within 12 months of the original course. |
| 3.4 |
Failure to attend the rescheduled course within 12 months of the original course will result in forfeiture of the full course fee. |

SCHOOL FOR LEGAL PRACTICE

| 2.1 |
A candidate will qualify for a refund only if he/she cancels attendance of the School in writing before commencement of the School and before receiving material, subject to deduction of a cancellation fee of R500. |
| 2.2 |
If a candidate cancels after commencement of the school (and/or receipt of material), but within two months from commencement, a fee of R2000 plus the cost of all material received will be charged unless the reason for cancellation is on one of the following grounds:
i. Death of a close family member (death certificate should be submitted).
ii. Severe medical condition which results in the participant no longer being able to continue
with the School (medical certificate should be submitted). |

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT COURSE

A candidate will qualify for a refund only if he/she cancels attendance of the course in writing, at least 30 business days before commencement of the course, subject to deduction of a cancellation fee of 10% of the full course fee. |

If a candidate cancels less than 30 business days prior to the course, he/she will be liable for payment in full unless the reason for cancellation is on one of the following grounds:
i. Death of a close family member (death certificate should be submitted).
ii. Severe medical condition which results in the participant no longer being able to continue
with the School (medical certificate should be submitted).
iii. Full Exemption granted by the candidate’s Provincial Law Society |

Successful completion of the PMT |
| 3.1 |
Students must have an active e-mail address” should be added to the website. To complete the course, students are required to have a satisfactory attendance record of the training (8 modules) as well as having passed the three assignments. |

Ideally, the student should complete the training at the end of the first six months after registering. Students are, however, required to complete the Practice Management Training in full within 18 months from the date of registering. |
| 3.3 |
If the training has not been completed within 18 months from the date of first registration, the student will have to re-register and repeat the entire training (8 modules and 3 assignments).
The full cost of the training will have to be paid again. |

SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

Limited seats are available at all centres and registrations will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. |
| 2. |
A candidate who has registered for a seminar/workshop will qualify for a refund only if he/she cancels attendance in writing at least 48 hours prior to the date of the seminar/workshop. |
| 3. |
If a candidate cancels less than 48 hours prior to the seminar/workshop, he/she will be held liable for the full fee. |
| 4. |
All refunds must be claimed in writing not more than 15 business days after cancellation. |
| 5. |
Failure to claim a refund within 15 business days from cancellation will result in forfeiture of the refund |

eLEADer courses
| 1. |
An attendee of an ACT training course/seminar/workshop who wishes to cancel must do so at least 7 (seven) days prior to commencement of the selected training. |
| 2. |
Cancellations must be done in writing and e-mailed to annelie@LSSALEAD.org or faxed to
086 215 6764. Confirmation of the cancellation will be confirmed via e-mail. Should an attendee not receive a cancellation confirmation from LEAD, it means that the cancellation request was not received. Attendees should follow up ASAP or it will mean that he/she will be held liable for the full training amount. |

Attendees who do not cancel and fail to attend the training will be held responsible for the full training amount. The only exceptions are if the reasons for cancellation are one of the following:
a) Death of a close family member (death certificate should be submitted);
b) Severe medical condition which results in the participant no longer being able to continue with the training (medical certificate should be submitted); |

Certification
Certificates of attendance will be awarded to students upon successful completion of the training. |
| 5. |
Cancelation Clause
LEAD reserves the right to postpone or cancel any training should the number of delegates not justify the costs involved. Registered participants will be given reasonable notice of cancellation.
